Teamwork

Took advantage of the beautiful 80 degree temps this weekend.  Cassie and I ventured out for 2 hours on Saturday and Sunday.  Lots of deer out there.  Both days we spooked up 4 doe and 1 buck in the same place.  She's always on the lookout in that area.  Haven't had any close spooks yet.  She handles it very well when she can see them in the distance.

We're working together to figure out her gaits.  Concentrating on her foxtrot right now.  It is very smooth until she does a "skip" with her hind legs and tosses me up a bit.  I am starting to figure out when she's about ready to do that and I'm trying to sit it better and push her harder to stay in her gait.

She did such a good job this weekend!!  We are becoming a great team.

I think she's also enjoying the cats at the farm.  I call them Stripey (the striped one) and Blacky (the black one).  The girls call them Paws and Babe.  I don't know which one is which; hence, Stripey and Blacky.  They are under-your-feet cats.  I believe Stripey spent some time under Cassie's hoof a while back.  His back end wasn't right for a while.  Wasn't sure if he was gong to make it.  I don't want to be next to Cassie when Stripey decides to jump on her back.

I tie Cassie up  next to a concrete wall when I'm grooming her and/or getting her ready to ride.  Stripey likes to sit on the ledge while I'm doing this.

Often Cassie will snip at her.  After our ride today, Cassie must have been a bit tired because she let Stripey give her a kiss....
